We publish web-native, interactive learning resources developed by our editorial team, and augment and web-enable content from other publishers too. Sales Representative - Texas

We currently have an educational sales opportunity in Texas selling social sciences and humanities webtexts with a focus on political science. We are looking for a talented salesperson to engage our customers and help us to continue to grow the business.

As a Soomo Learning Sales Representative you are our customer-facing advocate tasked with helping us support student learning and empower faculty. You are responsible for creating sales solutions that address issues and challenges facing institutions, instructors and students. If you possess a need for achievement, a demonstrated success in meeting and surpassing goals, an ability to work in a self-directed fashion, and a desire to work with a smaller company where you can have a real impact, we welcome your application.

Responsibilities Include

  • Building strong relationships with faculty and prospective customers in Texas.
  • Successfully managing a territory independently with weekly check-ins with your sales director.
  • Employing effective pre-visit planning and productive questioning strategies that lead to getting customer buy-in and winning business.
  • Demonstrating exceptional organizational and follow-up abilities.
  • Building and maintaining product knowledge around Soomo solutions, the educational industry, and factors influencing the local market.
  • Delivering presentations of web-based products to faculty.
  • Providing feedback for the editorial team to help improve product/market fit.

Position Requirements

Location: Texas-based with easy access to universities and colleges in the Houston or Dallas area.

Minimum Education Required: A 4-year college degree demonstrating academic excellence preferred.

Minimum Experience: At least 2 years experience in a sales role in higher education.

Starting Salary: As Soomo Learning Sales Representative, you would receive a base salary commensurate with experience and uncapped bonus potential, all travel expenses, and an excellent benefits package.

Intern Opportunities

Soomo is looking for great interns! Interns assist in creating forthcoming webtexts either by reviewing them or assisting in the development process.  All webtexts support introductory general education courses such as Introduction to Psychology, U.S. History, American Government, English Composition, and Introduction to Natural Sciences, to name a few. An ideal candidate enjoys learning and has an interest in learning new things.

Responsibilities may include:

    • Reviewing webtexts to provide feedback on the user learning experience as well as editorial suggestions
    • Working with our Tech team to review upcoming improvements or feature development
    • Keeping the office stocked with groceries and supplies
    • Jumping into any project where we need an extra hand

Position Requirements

This is a part-time position in a small, collegial company with a weekly commitment ranging from 20-30 hours.  Candidates must be detail and methodical-minded individuals who enjoy learning.

Location: Our downtown office located in a 100-year-old building right on Pack Square in Asheville, North Carolina

Minimum Education Required: A bachelor's degree in an introductory discipline, communication, or equivalent experience

Starting salary: $15/hr

The following skills and attributes are highly desired:

  • Has some teaching experience (for example, working as a TA, adjunct instructor, high school teacher or tutor, etc.)
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills and isn't afraid to ask questions
  • Has an interest in learning new things
