Founded in 2004, Soomo Learning is a growing web-based academic publishing company currently residing above bustling Pack Square in downtown Asheville, NC. We publish web-native, interactive learning resources developed by our editorial team, and augment and web-enable content from other publishers too. As the work ahead of us grows, it's time to add some members to our small, close-knit development team! We are all passionate about transformative learning and enjoy working at an organization which allows us to develop excellent learning resources and provide exceptional service. We strive to keep all of our processes lean, test-driven, and rapidly iterating based on real-world use.

The following positions are currently available with Soomo:


Soomo is looking for great interns! Interns assist in creating forthcoming webtexts either by reviewing them or assisting in the development process.  All webtexts support introductory general education courses such as Introduction to Psychology, U.S. History, American Government, English Composition, and Introduction to Natural Sciences, to name a few. An ideal candidate enjoys learning and has an interest in learning new things.

Responsibilities may include:

    • Reviewing webtexts to provide feedback on the user learning experience as well as editorial suggestions
    • Working with our Tech team to review upcoming improvements or feature development
    • Keeping the office stocked with groceries and supplies
    • Jumping into any project where we need an extra hand

Position Requirements

This is a part-time position in a small, collegial company with a weekly commitment ranging from 20-30 hours.  Candidates must be detail and methodical-minded individuals who enjoy learning.

Location: Our downtown office located in a 100-year-old building right on Pack Square in Asheville, North Carolina

Minimum Education Required: A bachelor's degree in an introductory discipline, communication, or equivalent experience

Starting salary: $15/hr

The following skills and attributes are highly desired:

  • Has some teaching experience (for example, working as a TA, adjunct instructor, high school teacher or tutor, etc.)
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills and isn't afraid to ask questions
  • Has an interest in learning new things
